ASSUNTINA OF AMÉRIKAS: an opera, a musical one, a comedy, a colored gesture of creative freedom. Assuntina is sought by the camera not like a woman-history, bearer certain political ideas. Besides, fidelity inexists the only one woman’s certain image. And instead of the true woman (Sara, of “Terra em Transe”), we have an object bitter, superficial, closed in the search of her identity.

Its hurts the aristocratic sensibility of the dominant class. Is difficult transform the times, but is possible the inconvenience, to wake up, to feel the hateful opposition to the creativity, to the freedom, to the true sense of the political movies. It is already some thing in this blue lake of the Latin America peacefulness. That is my movies, that is “Assuntina of Amérikas.” A political film, in the politics of existing and of resisting.
